Risk Warning
Last updated: September 9, 2026
1. Read this before you use SafeGround
SafeGround helps you save, verify land, fund construction, and manage property, but every one of these involves real money and, for land and construction, real physical risk that we reduce rather than remove. This page sets out the main risks in plain terms, alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. Osusu / savings groups
- A rotating Osusu group only works if every member keeps paying their contribution on time. If a member is late or defaults, other members' payouts can be delayed or reduced. SafeGround facilitates the group but does not guarantee any member's contribution.
- Joining a group is a commitment to the other members, not just to SafeGround. Only join a group and a contribution amount you can genuinely keep up with for its full cycle.
- A fixed-savings group returns only what you personally contributed — it is not an investment and does not earn interest.
3. Land verification
- Our land verification service reduces, but cannot fully eliminate, the risk of a title dispute, encumbrance, or fraudulent seller. It is based on the documents, access, and information available to our team at the time of review.
- A positive verification report is our team's professional assessment, not a legal guarantee of clean title, and not insurance against a future dispute.
- If you pay a seller directly, outside of the App, SafeGround has no visibility into or responsibility for that payment. We strongly recommend never paying a seller in full before verification is complete.
4. Construction
- Construction cost and timeline estimates are based on site conditions and material costs known at the time. Both can change, sometimes significantly, once work is underway.
- Releasing a milestone's funds pays for that phase of work to begin — it is not a payment held back until after the work is verified complete. Review the project's progress, photos, and updates, and raise any concern with us before releasing funds for the next phase, since a released milestone payment cannot be reversed through the App.
5. Property management
- Rental income is not guaranteed. A property can sit vacant, a tenant can pay late or not at all, and rental values can rise or fall with the market — none of this is within SafeGround's control.
- Where a tenant pays a landlord or agent directly rather than through SafeGround, we can only record what we are told about that payment — we have not verified it ourselves.
6. Your wallet and transfers
- An external bank transfer out of your wallet, once confirmed with your PIN, is typically irreversible. Double-check the recipient details before confirming.
- Anyone who obtains your login credentials or payment PIN can move money out of your wallet as if they were you. Never share either with anyone, including someone claiming to represent SafeGround — we will never ask you for your PIN.
- Your SafeGround wallet balance is held via our licensed payment processor and its partner bank, not directly by SafeGround. It is not a savings product and does not earn interest.
7. Not financial or legal advice
Nothing in the App or on this website is financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. Reports, estimates, and recommendations from our team reflect our professional assessment at the time and should not be treated as a substitute for your own independent advice, particularly for a purchase or commitment as significant as land or property.
8. Contact
If anything here is unclear, ask us through the Contact Us or Chat Us options inside the App before you commit funds.
