Delete Your Account

Last updated: October 11, 2026

How to request deletion

You can request deletion of your SafeGround account (a product of DevArk Tech Limited) directly from the app:

  1. Open the SafeGround app and log in.
  2. Go to Profile, then Delete Account.
  3. Tell us why you are leaving.
  4. If you have a wallet balance, add a bank account for us to send it to before your account can be deleted.
  5. Confirm. Your account is deleted, and you are logged out immediately.

If you cannot access the app, email support@safeground.app from the address on your account with your username and a request to delete your account, and we will process it for you.

What gets deleted

Once processed, the following is permanently deleted from our systems:

  • Your profile photo
  • Your uploaded ID document and selfie, used for identity verification
  • Land verification requests and bookmarks
  • Construction projects and managed properties
  • Group memberships
  • Bank accounts on file
  • Photos, videos, and documents you uploaded

Your account itself is also removed: your profile, name, email, username, and phone number are taken off your account, your login credentials stop working immediately, and you are logged out everywhere. If you would like to come back later, you are free to create a brand-new SafeGround account with the same email address or Google sign-in. Deleting your account does not block you from signing up again.

What we retain, and why

If your wallet has a balance, we send it to the bank account you provide before your account is deleted. Separately, before deletion, we keep an internal record of your name, email, phone number, BVN (if you provided one), and wallet transaction history. This record is not part of your account. It is not visible to you or to other users, it cannot be logged into, and it has no connection to any new account you create afterward. It exists solely as an internal compliance record.

Keeping it is a legal requirement, not a choice we make: under Nigeria's Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, we are required to be able to show which customer a given transaction belonged to for five years after an account closes, not just that the transaction happened. We retain only what that law requires. Your ID document and selfie photo are still permanently deleted, since keeping those is not necessary for that requirement.
